Mini-Lessons

Clicking on the titles below provides mini-lessons that entail exploring mental health self-care. Each lesson is meant to be an ongoing treasure hunt, during which good self-care skills are discovered. When possible, work on the lessons with trusted individuals, possibly relatives, friends or classmates. We suggest discussing the lessons during usual activities, possibly walks, car rides, shared meals, or board games. Of course, learners on the elementary school level will require greater involvement by mentors. Learners should begin each lesson by getting definitions for words or phrases unfamiliar to them. If you’e a mentor, respond to learners with the patience and encouragement that reflects a-work-in-progress premise. Along with telling learners they’re free to use the Outpost as a resource, we recommend learners be given at least a week to ponder and submit their response to each lesson. (ages 10 and up)
